People’s History Museum

Fido has proudly been co-ordinating press office comms for People’s History Museum, the national museum of democracy, since 2014.

The spirit of ideas worth fighting for, celebrating those who are seeking a better world for all and using the past to empower future change inspires us every day.

The quest for representation and equality is told through the museum’s collections, galleries and programme, making for bold and compelling outcomes.

Exhibitions exploring key anniversaries have included Never Going Underground (marking the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexual acts in England and Wales (1967 Sexual Offences Act)), Represent! Voices 100 Years On (exploring representation a centenary on from the first women achieving the vote in 1918) and Disrupt? Peterloo and Protest (200 years on from the Peterloo Massacre). This followed in 2022 with the ground-breaking Nothing About Us Without Us exhibition that explored how disabled people’s rights have been fought for over centuries and the activism that has led this march forward.
